Compulsive Habits

A habit is a behaviour which has become so normal you do it outside of conscious awareness. In fact most things we do well are habits. Putting our seat belt on in the car. Clicking the kettle on when we get home. Putting socks on after underwear. However, there are some habits which can become a nuisance and we would rather do without. Nail biting, for instance. For these habits, all I need to do is to find out what the stimulus is, and then recode it. I help you to unlearn the habit, so it becomes unappealing, and suddenly the habit will disappear.

There are also other habits we wish we had. Getting up for work on time(!) Much of the time it comes down to procrastination (or “planning to plan”, as I call it). I can help install these new habits and overcome procrastination, by studying people who do them naturally, and installing their models and procedures into you.
